Iranian Qanats

Qannats are among the most important legacy of agricultural culture in Iran and in the world. One of the best methods of water use in sustainable development of agricultural sector is in dry and semi-arid countries, since without undergoing underground water table changes and degradation they provide water to some of the most important needs of farmers. The aqueduct is an underground duct that, with less than the gradient of the surface of the earth, provides underground water without using external power (electronic energy, etc.), only with the help of gravity to lower points. Determination of the qanat route requires the identification of groundwater aquifers.
